IPL on, but stays off poll course thumbnail

After the furious battle of Wednesday and Thursday, there finally came an output on Friday over the second season of IPL.

IPL Chairman Lalit Modi, in a BCCI meeting in Mumbai, said there will be a little tweaking with the schedule of the matches to ensure no matches are held 24-48 hours before or after polling. An IPL official said, “Security is of importance to us, too, and we will co-operate with the government”.

Four new venues: Cuttack, Nagpur, Rajkot and Indore have been added to the list of 9 venues for Indian Premier League 2009 matches. “We’ll shortlist these down to eight depending on the polling dates and the level of security at different venues”, an official said.

The new schedule is expected to be released on Sunday, but the opening ceremony has already been shifted from Mumbai to Jaipur.
